Chelsea have a strict deadline for potential summer transfer

Chelsea may have a transfer ban in place this summer, but there are some players they can sign.

Anyone who is still on loan at the club from last season can be made into a permanent signing, and while Gonzalo Higuain looks set to return to Juventus after a poor spell since January, Mateo Kovacic made more of an impact.

According to an exclusive on Goal.com, Kovacic could be signed by Chelsea full time this summer, but only if they complete the deal before the 1st of July, when the loan ends. At that point he reverts to being a Real Madrid player, and we would not be able to transfer him.

There is some question over whether the departure of Maurizio Sarri will have made a stay for the Croatian less likely, but the fact we can’t sign anyone might just ensure we pay what we need to prise him from Real Madrid.

Either way, we need a new manager in order to decide what our next move is. That’s the priority right now.
