Chelsea set to lose another loanee to a permanent transfer

Bristol City have completed the signing of Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas. according to local Twitter source (with Blue Tick), Bristol City Live, later followed up by the Bristol Post.

The Czech centre back has been at the club on loan, but after Jay Dasilva he becomes the second Chelsea man in 24 hours to make a loan move to the West Country a permanent one.

He has had six loans, and finally looks to have settled in the Championship, where the report says he will become the the club’s best paid player. Manager Lee Johnson described him as “fantastic” and said he was helping to push the club to a higher level.

Kalas never got a chance at Chelsea, although he did keep a clean sheet in one of the most legendary games in recent history, the Steven Gerrard “slip” game where he made his Chelsea debut – and only league start – under Jose Mourinho. We’ll never forget that day, Tomas.
