Why Chelsea cannot afford to lose star forward this summer despite interesting bids for him

Chelsea are facing a tough summer transfer window after they were told by FIFA that they will not be allowed to sign on new players ahead of next season, and they also have to deal with clubs coming in for their current stars.

The Metro reports that Chelsea have rejected a bid of £35 million for the Brazil international after strong interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, and rightly so because the Blues cannot afford to lose any of their first team stars at the moment. No matter how seemingly insignificant they are, the players cannot be allowed to let go. Back up players will naturally want more minutes and eventually ask for a move outside the club but even they will deserve some assurances and kept within the clubs ranks for the gruelling season ahead.

If the backups cannot leave then regular starters as Willian can certainly not be allowed either, especially after Eden Hazard left to join Real Madrid. Callum Hudson-Odoi has picked a long term injury while Pedro remains inconsistent in attack.

Christian Pulisic is yet to show the Stamford Bridge faithful what exactly he can do, and that makes Willian’s possible departure a nightmare for the club at the moment.
