Chelsea board rumoured to have rejected “final request” of Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri decided to leave Chelsea for Juventus after a “final request” was ignored by the club, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Chelsea manager has had an up and down time of it in England, and looked perilously close to the sack in the Spring. But he’s held on, achieved his objectives and now apparently has Italian giants Juventus after his services.

He was willing to stay, according to the rumours reported in the tabloid, but wanted one thing from Chelsea’s figured behind the scenes: more backing for his philosophy and the club “buying into” what he wants.

It seems that Marina Granovskaia politely declined, and said he was welcome to to to Juventus if they paid out his contract, a sum said to be around £5m.

It’s understandable that, after a season that very nearly went horribly wrong, and with the fans on his back, the board aren’t willing to say yes to Sarri’s demands. But we may well end up regretting it if he goes and succeeds at the Old Lady.
