Chelsea reach agreement with Champions League new boys Atalanta over midfielder

Atalanta and Chelsea have found an agreement for the extension of midfielder Mario Pasalic’s loan deal, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.

Pasalic spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at the Serie A outfit, contributing to their unprecedented third-place finish – ahead of both Milan clubs and Roma.

Atalanta appear keen on replicating that success, as well as keeping their heads above water in the Champions League. In order to do that, they need reinforcements.

Calciomercato report that, while Atalanta are not prepared to meet the €15M purchase option for Pasalic, they have now agreed to take him on loan once again.

If their information is to be believed, the Croat will spend yet another season in Italy, with the promise of European football an added bonus.

Next summer may well be decision time for Pasalic and Chelsea. Ultimately, he has this year to prove that he could be good enough to compete in the Chelsea squad.
