Atletico Madrid are growing increasingly confident that they will sign left-back Marcos Alonso from Chelsea this summer, according to the Mirror.
Alonso has been an important figure for the Blues over the past three years, but fell out of favour towards the end of Maurizio Sarri’s debut campaign.
Emerson Palmieri established himself as a starter, better suiting the more reserved left-back role, and left Alonso to watch from the sidelines.
Alonso appears to have little interest in doing it any further, with the Mirror reporting that he could be off to Atletico before the end of the summer.
Atletico’s confidence that they will get their man is growing, according to the Mirror, though it’s unclear how much they’ll have to cough up.
Chelsea should only entertain offers for backup players like Alonso if our transfer ban is suspended following an appeal to the CAS.
