The 6 top contenders to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea

It looks strongly like Maurizio Sarri will not be Chelsea manager next season, and the rumour mill is already whirring trying to speculate about who will be his replacement.

The Daily Mirror say that there are six prime candidates, although they effectively just add up the names that other papers have projected. That means Frank Lampard is joined by Wolves boss Nuno Espirio Santo, Erik ten Hag the Ajax manager who lead the Dutch to a Champions League semi final, Javi Gracia who has massively solidified Watford, Steve Holland who has a great background as an assistant at the club.

Despite all that, the easy option is Max Allergi. It may not be the smart move, but it ticks all the boxes, and after appointing a visionary manager like  Maurizio Sarri, it’s easy to return to the safe zone of established European success.

Those options are all flawed, but they each have their own unique points of interest too.

We await further news about the club.
