With Chelsea about to take on Frankfurt in extra time last night, the whole team gathered on the speech to get pumped up.
But Maurizio Sarri didn’t join them. He stayed in his technical area awkwardly, just metres away.
Many people have put this down to a lack of team spirit, or a broken dressing room, but Sarri’s excuse is even more strange, and even more silly.
The boss said that it was just down to his superstition of not going on the pitch. He also said that Gianfranco Zola had carried his instructions, so he had no need to speak to them himself.
Do you buy that? He certainly is known as a superstitious guy.
