Torino may not extend Ola Aina loan after league disappointment

CalcioMercato have been reporting all season that Torino will activate the purchase clause in Ola Aina’s contract.

It’s looked like a no brainer for the Serie A side. Aina was good for them this season and played a lot of minutes, so the purchase clause in his loan was a logical choice.

But now those same Italian sources are saying that their failure to reach the top 6 has meant a change in plans. Now they aren’t so keen to spend the millions it would cost to permanently bring the Nigerian to town.

The rumoured €8m would be a big chunk of their transfer target, to be fair.

If they don’t want him, plenty of people will. His improved showings through the year will have generated interest in a few places. He might even get a chance to stick around and try his luck in the first team squad next year, especially if the transfer ban holds.
