New Chelsea director of football hoping to appoint this club legend as manager

Chelsea legend Petr Cech is set to become the club’s director of football – and is hoping to reunite with Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

That’s according to The Sun, who believe that Cech’s arrival at Cobham could pave the way for Lampard to replace Maurizio Sarri in the Chelsea dugout.

Lampard has had just one year of experience in management, but has impressed with his modern methods and willingness to give young players a chance.

With Chelsea’s fans opinion towards Maurizio Sarri turning sour at times this term, Lampard would also be the perfect appointment to resolve the disconnect.

It’s far from confirmation that he’ll be taking the reins this summer, but The Sun do believe that Cech’s presence could help Lampard in his efforts to land the Chelsea job.

Cech and Lampard played together for the best part of a decade at Chelsea. The possibility of them leading the club into a brighter future is utterly mouthwatering.

We are reluctant to turn our back on Sarri just yet, though. He’s achieved plenty this term, and deserves our full support heading into the Europa League final.
