“It is not easy” – Maurizio Sarri throws in the towel in bid to keep main Chelsea star

Eden Hazard is on his way to Real Madrid, and if reports from Spain are to be taken seriously, he could be announced by the beginning of next month. But Maurizio Sarri is making attempts to get the prolific attacker from leaving, although he admits ‘it is not easy’.

The Belgium forward who is Chelsea’s top scorer this season in the Premier League with 19 goals, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Independent say Los Blancos are yet to make an official bid for the 27-year old, but the move it in the pipeline.

His 16 assists this season in the English top-flight makes him the top playmaker in Europe’s top five leagues as revealed by Coral.

Sarri is hoping to keep his best player in the team despite the certain bid by Real in the coming weeks. Goal says the player has already told the London club he has decided to play at the Santiago Bernabeu next season and Sarri admits it is likely he will be without his star man after next summer.

“I don’t know. If Hazard is thinking that the history here is finished, then in his mind it is finished. I can try to speak to him but it is not easy. It’s not easy because of course, I want Hazard, but I want Hazard with a very high level of motivation.

As you know you have to ask the club because I am not in control of the market. I am not in charge of the renewal of the contract so I am not able to answer. I can only speak to the player but like a father, not like a manager.

Also if I speak to him, I will not tell you anything. It’s a discussion between a father and a son.”
