“This means everything to us” – Struggling midfielder ready to collect first trophy as Chelsea player

Chelsea will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan to play Arsenal in the final of the Europa League this season and Ross Barkley has revealed what the mood in the dressing room is ahead of the clash.

The Blues have missed out on all other trophies they have chased this season except the Europa League. Maurizio Sarri’s side dropped off in the race for the Premier League title, placing third on the final day of the season. They also exited the FA Cup in the fifth round against Manchester United after a 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

Their Carabao Cup campaign continued to the final where they lost to Man City via penalty shootout but their campaign in Europe could end in success. After beating Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-final of the competition, Chelsea will now face Arsenal in the final in Baku on May 29 and Barkley, who scored two goals for Chelsea in the USA against the New England Revolution believes the hunger in his players will push them for the only silverware remaining in the season:

“Everyone in that dressing room is hungry to win it. It’s a good cause and always good to take part in things like this. Now we get a few days’ rest and then we’re back at it with all our focus on the Europa League final.

We’re all excited. We’re trying to bring that trophy home. Everyone in the dressing room is hungry to win it. Some of them have won it before. Trophies are special to every player. We’ve won trophies and we want to win more. This means everything to us.”
