‘We are optimistic’ – Maurizio Sarri gives injury update on star man ahead of EL final

Maurizio Sarri has revealed his optimism that N’Golo Kante will be available to feature against Arsenal in the Europa League final this week.

Kante’s availability for the final was thrown into doubt when he left the field during our win over Watford early on in May. However, the signs are now positive that he can be involved.

Speaking to the press ahead of Wednesday’s big game, Sarri confirmed that Kante has a fighting chance of being fit and available in Baku. He’s quoted by Football London saying:

“Of course we are trying to recover Kante. He had a part of the training yesterday with the group, so we are optimistic. I think he will be able to play the final.”

With Ruben Loftus-Cheek certain to miss the final with an achilles rupture, we couldn’t afford to lose another of our starting midfield for a game which holds such significance.

Kante’s involvement would be a considerable boost to our chances of being victorious on Wednesday night. He’s one of the best midfielders on the planet, and certainly out best.

We now face a nervous wait for confirmation of Kante’s availability, while also hoping that the rest of the team are being wrapped up in cotton wool ahead of the game.
