It has this week been rumoured that Chelsea will replace Maurizio Sarri with Frank Lampard, even if the Italian wins the Europa League final next week.
This has understandably caused quite a commotion online, with a variety of takes on the situation.
People are talking about it as though it’s already done, when the reality is that this is still just a rumour. Until some more solid sources are willing to talk about it on the record, we won’t be too
You can see a large selection of the reaction to the rumours here:
Sky Italia | "Chelsea are preparing to axe Maurizio Sarri even if he wins the UEFA Europa League and will bring in Frank Lampard to replace him."
Sky source = pinch of salt.
That said, these reports have become relentless. Remember the gut feeling I mentioned? Well…#CFC pic.twitter.com/fj5M0wHNYS

For real Chelsea lacks direction….I see Sarri being a great manager for Chelsea

People who've spent the whole year abusing us for comparing Sarri's first pl season with Pep's are now comparing Pep and Lampard in terms of experience? pic.twitter.com/9Xjfwvuwdb

I’m on record saying Sarri deserves to stay, but it’s funny, SO many fans are saying it’s too early to hire (their top choice), Frank Lampard, and bashing Chelsea that it’s even a rumor, that we are ALREADY not welcoming our next (potential) manager.
This fanbase, lol.

Lampard may not be the best person for the job footballing wise but he’d definitely bring back the enjoyment of going to Chelsea and would piss off a lot of Sarri bum boys.

With #Sarri a contender for Juventus job, long-term target #Allegri could come the other way to #cfc. Also getting indications that #Lampard's inexperience as a coach wouldn't count against him if job at Stamford Bridge becomes available this summer. More here: https://t.co/MglbymAR7s

The Sarri to Italy, Lampard to Chelsea story is gaining momentum with every passing day.
Wherever the truth lies, whoever is going to be Blues boss for the next campaign will need a full hassle-free preseason with the squad especially if the transfer ban takes effect this summer. pic.twitter.com/OrnNuQPLMy— Mark Worrall (@gate17marco) May 20, 2019

Why is it okay to say Sarri deserves patience after his first PL season like Pep got but it’s not okay to say Lampard is as experienced now as Pep was when Pep took over Barcelona (if not more so)? 🤔 #CFC
