Jorginho was not Chelsea’s third best player this season

Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com has just published his list of the 3 best Chelsea players this season, and there’s one rather surprising entry.

We don’t even have to scroll to the bottom of the page to know that Eden Hazard is number one, and understandably N’Golo Kante is second, in a season where he lost his defensive position but added a lot of goals and assists – and a few vital points along the way.

His third choice is Jorginho, the midfielder who has been a controversial addition since he joined with Maurizio Sarri this summer.

Kinsella admits the former Napoli man had a “weak middle period” – for us, that period went on long enough to discount him from being considered among our top 3 performers of the season, but there you go.

We reckon Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and maybe even Kepa had more consistent seasons than Jorginho, who had a great start and some good games along the way, but wasn’t our third best player overall.

Still, it’s a game of opinions eh? Hopefully every member of this squad can step things up next season and make this race a little more heated.
