“But I’m coming in to be my own player” – Chelsea’s £58m signing wants to build his own legacy in the Premier League

Chelsea’s latest signing Christian Pulisic has revealed his desire to emulate Eden Hazard but quickly adds he wants to build his own legacy at his new club.

The USMNT star signed for Chelsea in January from Borussia Dortmund but was immediately loaned back to the German club to remain until the end of the Bundesliga season. With the BVB failing to annex the German top flight title from Bayern Munich in one of the most hotly contested battles for the Bundesliga in recent years, Pulisic arrived in London this week to report at his new club and greet his new teammates for the first time.

As he comes in, Eden Hazard is reportedly on his way out. Sky Sports says the Belgium international is set to join Real Madrid after Chelsea accepted to allow him to leave now for a reasonable fee rather than lose him for free next year.

The narrative is that Pulisic comes in to replace the superstar forward, but the 20-year old is adamant he is ready to do great things and make fans remember him, not try to be someone else.

“Eden’s a fantastic player, we all know that. If I can get anywhere close to him, I’ll be more than happy. But I’m coming in to be my own player. I expect a lot from myself. For me that’s enough.

Obviously there’s pressure from outside—that’s to be expected. I want to be successful, be part of this team and make an impact. They are my goals and to become the best player I can be.”
