“I’d be surprised if he did leave” – Chelsea starter questions club over Maurizio Sarri departure rumors

Maurizio Sarri could lose his job as Chelsea head coach after the Europa League final if reports are to be believed but one of the Italian’s favorite players Jorginho has expressed his concerns over those rumors.

Chelsea are currently third in the league table and also made the final of the Carabao Cup, losing to Manchester City via penalty shootout. The Blues have also played very well in the Europa League, advancing to the final against Arsenal. Yet, Sarri’s head is still being called for by Chelsea fans who are mounting pressure on the top hierarchy to replace their current coach following a show of ‘boring’ football.

Jorginho says, with Chelsea finishing third in the league table and finishing runners up to Man City in the Carabao Cup makes Sarri’s first season ‘positive’.

“I have four years on my contract with Chelsea. I’d be surprised he did leave, because we are third in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Liverpool, we’re in the Europa League final and reached the Carabao Cup final.

It has been a positive season. Sarri is relaxed, even more so now than in other stages of the campaign.”

Jorginho was the first player the club signed after the arrival of Sarri at Chelsea last summer, with a £50 million bid accepted by the Italian giants. The midfielder’s time in London has been a struggle for the most part. Having adjusted so early to the demands of the English top flight, Jorginho was then vilified by Chelsea fans who expected to see more from their most expensive midfielder. He quickly grew in confidence again and won back some hearts.

But his boss hasn’t.
