Hazard cycle complete as Chelsea turn down rumoured first option on Dortmund singing

The complicated relationship between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund over the last few months is concluded at last.

The Blues signed Christian Pulisic from the German side in January, but loaned him back to the Bundesliga team until the end of the season.

Rumoured to be part of that deal was Chelsea’s agreement to not take up their first option on Thorgan Hazard, Eden’s brother.

He has been at Borussia Monchengladbach for five years, first on loan from us and then on a permanent deal. We had the option to match any bid made for him, but now that Dortmund have completed his signing we know that we declined to take it up.

So now, with Eden about to leave for Real Madrid, to be replaced by Christian Pulisic from Dortmund, who will in turn be replaced by Thorgan Hazard, whom we sold to Monchengladbach… maybe the Hazard cycle is complete?

That is, unless young Kylian gets bought by BMG from Cercle Brugge this summer…
