‘A dream come true’ – Chelsea defender desperate for Europa League triumph

Emerson Palmieri has revealed that Chelsea winning the Europa League on Wednesday would make the 2018/19 campaign a ‘dream’ one for him.

Emerson has become a prominent figure at Chelsea, having struggled to establish himself as a starter after his arrival from AS Roma.

Marcos Alonso firmly nailed down the left-wing-back spot under Antonio Conte, and continued as a left-back in the first months under Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri quickly learned that Alonso is somewhat of a liability at the back, which presented Emerson with the opportunity to worm his way into the lineup.

He grabbed it with both hands, and we’d be surprised if Sarri didn’t opt to start him against Arsenal on Wednesday night to help sure-up a defence which will be missing Antonio Rudiger.

Emerson, who will no doubt be desperate to start the game, has revealed what it would mean to him to win the competition. He’s quoted by Yahoo Sport saying:

“We managed to get into the Champions League and to win the Europa League on top of that would make this year a dream come true. Let’s hope we can make it happen.”

Go out there and win it then!
