David Luiz has thrown his support behind manager Maurizio Sarri, insisting that the Chelsea boss is doing an ‘amazing’ job at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri has received his fair share of criticism this season, with the Chelsea players struggling to adapt to his philosophy and style of football.
This is, in truth, no surprise. This squad was built by two pragmatic managers, and they’re now attempting to play attractive football.
Square pegs, round holes.
Even with our struggles during periods, Luiz is insistent that Sarri is doing a good job. He’s quoted during an interview with BT Sport saying:
“I think he is doing amazing, he is doing a great season.”
“We started very well, everyone was very excited saying Chelsea are going to fight for the title.”
“Then we had some ups and downs but we finished the season, especially in the Premier League, very well and we have another opportunity to win this competition.”
Sarri brought Luiz back from the brink and made him an important player for us. It’s no surprise that the Brazilian’s a fan of his manager.
To say that he’s doing amazingly is somewhat of a stretch, but Sarri’s certainly done enough to warrant a second season here at Chelsea.
Whether he gets the opportunity to do so or not, we’ll have to wait and see.
