Chelsea set to offer interesting contract this summer for Azpilicueta cover

Chelsea are reportedly set to award emerging star, Reece James a new contract to keep him at the club as part of the grand plan to tie down several of the young stars.

James has enjoyed a hugely successful time in the Championship this season, playing with Wigan Athletic. His stint with the Latics raised a lot of interest in him with the Daily Mail saying Manchester United lead the queue for his signature next summer.

Reece is one of the most sought after youngsters in the English game, but Chelsea want to offer him improved terms to keep him beyond the three years remaining on his current deal, according to the Independent.

The report also says Davide Zappacosta will leave Chelsea for more game time in the transfer window to come and the Blues top hierarchy sees Reece as the perfect replacement for the Italian Serie A-bound defender.

The 19-year old made his first-team debut for Chelsea against the New England Revolution a few days ago in the USA.
