Chelsea to “look at” Nigeria international in training after impressive season

If Chelsea’s transfer ban is confirmed, it will mean a unique situation for a lot of players on loan.

They will have a chance they probably weren’t expecting to make an impact immediately, rather than having to continue impressing at ever bigger clubs on temporary deals.

One of those is Fikayo Tomori. He was barely mentioned in comparison to Mason Mount when the pair joined Derby on loan, but he’s been excellent for the Rams as they reached the playoffs and was named their player of the year.

He’s a Nigeria international now, and his growing stature in the game developed in the Championship has apparently earned him a glance from Maurizio Sarri. In their exclusive about the departure of Tomas Kalas from the club, Football.London  claimed that Tomori is one of the players that Sarri will “take a look at” in training this summer.

It might even be tempting to leave him on loan at Derby if they’re promoted. As always, it will come down to the result of this appeal against the transfer ban currently keeping us all in suspense.
