Chelsea backup player signs on for another season despite his age

Willy Caballero has been handed a new contract for the forthcoming season, Chelsea today announced on their official site.

It’s a logical move for the club with the Argentine having done fine work backing up Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga these last two seasons.

His conduct in the League Cup final was exemplary in the end, in a difficult situation, which perfectly sums up the good dressing room influence that he clearly is.

Last season he featured in the FA Cup and he’s picked up 5 clean sheets in his 9 games, including the win over Tottenham at the Bridge in the Spring.

He also played in our last game of the season, against Leicester.

In quotes carried on the site, he said he was “very happy” to renew, and that it was an “easy decision” to stay.

Marina, for her part, mentioned his positive presence in the dressing room and on the training ground.
