“An awful lot of detail” – How Chelsea legend is developing youngsters ahead of crucial final

It’s the most inevitable storyline of the year – Frank Lampard’s Derby County take on John Terry’s (not really) Aston Villa in the playoff final a week tonight, and it’s the clash of the Chelsea old boys that’s really getting talked up.

The Daily Mail have a whole feature on the pair  and how their two coaching roles have differed on the field. The most interesting details come from Villa manager Dean Smith, who went into detail on how JT was helping the young defenders in the Midlands learn their trade:

“If you ask all of the defenders they will say they have benefited from having JT on the coaching staff,’ Smith said of his assistant’s influence after the semi final.

“He gives a bit of technical, tactical and psychological advice. An awful lot of detail.”

It sounds like it’s going exactly as we imagined – and who would have expected anything less that total commitment from JT?

We will be torn about who to support in the playoff final, but one thing is for sure – with JT coaching them up, it won’t be easy for Lamps’ attackers to break down Villa’s defence.
