How Arsenal’s £56m signing helped Chelsea get Pulisic

Christian Pulisic was at Stamford Bridge yesterday for the first time as a Blue, and he answered a few questions about his transfer.

Of course he was mainly looking forward, hoping that he can play with Eden Hazard and be a success at the Bridge, etc. etc.

But there was more to his story too. He also had some interesting stories about how the move came about. It turns out that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Arsenal forward who used to play with Pulisic in Dortmund, really helped him in choosing his new team.

The US international explains:

“When the possibility of my transfer to Chelsea came around, I reached out to him. Even though Pierre-Emerick left Dortmund for Arsenal, we remained in contact. I have spoken with him on and off ever since he moved here,” he revealed in quotes carried by The Evening Standard.

We were gutted to miss out on Aubameyang last January, instead settling for the man Arsenal got rid of to make space for the Gabon international., whom they signed for £56m. At least he has helped us in this one aspect.
