Video: Reported Chelsea target nets thumping overhead kick vs. Manchester United

The Daily Mail reported in February that Chelsea had earmarked Everton’s Richarlison as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard.

On this evidence, we could do far worse.

Richarlison has been nothing short of a revelation for the Toffees. He’s been their star performer throughout his debut campaign at Goodison.

He added another memorable moment to his ever growing collection against Manchester United this afternoon, as Everton ran rampant.

The Brazilian opened the scoring with an overhead kick inside the penalty area, leaving David De Gea with no chance at all.

We don’t believe that anyone is capable of replacing Hazard. It’d be a mistake to think we can bring in a like-for-like.

A player like Richarlison could be a crucial asset in a new generation of Chelsea if Hazard were to leave – but he could never replace him.

Fearing Hazard’s (inevitable) departure would solve nothing. We need to put the wheels in motion to improve the squad over the next few years.

Richarlison is a viable target – and one that ought to be pursued.
