Chelsea making plans for summer of 2020, French midfielder mentioned as target

There are suggestions across the channel that Chelsea are interested in signing highly-rated midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

The news appears to have come from French newspaper L’Equipe, though the story is not visible on their website. GFFN relayed the information to their English followers on Twitter.

As noted in their tweet, Chelsea, as things stand, will be unable to register new players during this coming transfer window.

However, that doesn’t mean that the club can’t begin their preparations for life beyond that – which is where Ndombele comes in.

The 22-year-old has developed into an accomplished midfielder this campaign, thus establishing himself as a cornerstone in the Lyon starting eleven.

Chelsea already have one brilliant French midfielder at their disposal. There’d be no complaints from our end if we were looking to recruit another.

Whether we are able to pull this one off will likely be determined by Ndombele’s willingness to wait a year for the move to happen.

Only time will tell…
