“He is sure” – Maurizio Sarri confirms Chelsea striker will remain at the club next season

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will remain at Stamford Bridge next season despite talk that he is not content with his situation at the club.

Giroud has been in fine form and statistically one of the brighter players this season in Maurizio Sarri’s dressing room. He has been directly involved in 13 goals for Chelsea this campaign in the Europa League alone, scoring 10 goals and assisting three more. That makes him the first player to score 10 goals for the club in a single European campaign.

According to Transfermarkt, Giroud scores every 85 minutes on the pitch while he also averages 27% success rate with his shots at goal via Planet Football.

His game time has been limited this season with Sarri preferring Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain in both halves of the season but he has proven himself capable of matching the favored strikers with solid goal returns. Reports say he has been angling for a move away from Chelsea but Sarri insists the Frenchman is ‘sure’ to stay at Chelsea.

“He is sure, because the club has an option for another year, another season. I spoke to the club two days ago and we agreed to exercise the option. So, he will remain.”
