Maurizio Sarri discrimination allegations swept under the rug by incompetent FA

Maurizio Sarri has been fined £8,000 by the FA, with Chelsea claiming that the issue between himself and the Burnley bench being quietly resolved.

This news was reported yesterday by Sky Sports and the official Chelsea website respectively, which effectively brought this matter to a close.

That’s despite ESPN reporting that Sarri’s anger was stemmed by the Burnley bench calling him a “s**t Italian”, an allegation clearly not taken seriously by the FA.

It is utterly bizarre that they’ve been so willing to sweep such discriminatory comments under the carpet and the only person punished as a result of the incident is the victim himself.

This is typical incompetence from the FA, who have historically shown naivety when attempting to deal with this kind of situation.

Clubs are often charged for failing to control their players following tunnel brawls like the one we saw on Monday night. We wonder if Chelsea made peace with Burnley just to avoid a fine.

If that is the case, like the FA, they’re not doing Sarri justice for what was allegedly said to him.

The whole thing stinks.
