London rivals set to swoop for Chelsea’s forgotten man on a free transfer

West Ham are the latest club to be linked with a move for Gary Cahill.

The defender has been utterly frozen out by Maurizio Sarri this season, with only one substitute appearance in the league to his name.

He has managed a handful of starts in the Europa League, but it’s become very clear that his future at the club is limited, and that he will depart once his contract expires this summer.

The Mirror claim that the Hammers are the top option for the former Bolton man, and that would certainly fit in with their policy of signing past-it players from big clubs on big wages (see Jack Wilshere, Pablo Zabaleta etc.)

We’d love to see Gary back playing again, and it seems a natural fit, as the Hammers have a bit of money to throw around.

The only thing we ask is that Maurizio Sarri plays him tomorrow night against Slavia Prague, so the fans at Stamford Bridge get a chance to say a last goodbye to a club stalwart who lifted a lot of trophies in his time here.
