Chelsea have all manner of players on loan every season, and inevitably it’s the ones who score the most goals and produce the most highlight reel clips who get noticed most by Blues fans.
But often it’s the lesser lights, especially those in defence, who shine brightest. Kenneth Omeruo, for example has had a great season with Leganes in central defence.

An even better example is Fikayo Tomori. Mason Mount has sucked up all the plaudits and the attention with his goals for Derby County, but fellow Chelsea loanee Tomori has just won the award for Supporters Player of the Year, and looks set to follow that up with the club’s overall prize for their favourite of the term.
That is fantastic work by Fikayo, who has always been quietly impressive without making a big name for himself.
That might be about to change, however.
Well done Fikayo, here’s to another great year on loan next time out…
