‘It’s a big problem’ – Maurizio Sarri admits his concern about Chelsea’s issue of late

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted his concern about the Blues’ recent collapses early in the second half of games.

It has been a familiar occurrence since the turn of the year. Chelsea gain a foothold in the first 45 minutes of a game, but undo all of their good work early in the second.

It happened against Liverpool at the weekend and offered Slavia Prague an avenue back into the tie on Thursday night. If it continues to occur, Chelsea are in trouble.

Sarri, who has to be held at least partially responsible, is well aware of the issue. He’s quoted by the Mirror speaking after our win over Slavia:

“As usual in the last two months, we started very badly in the second half.”

“We need a solution. We need to solve this problem. In the last 10 matches, we started like in this match (in the second half). It’s a big problem.”

“I can try not going into the dressing-room at half-time. I can try if that’ll solve the problem!”

The answer is not clear, at least from the outside. Perhaps someone within the dressing room could offer some insight, but we’re not in a position to do so.

Whatever Sarri is doing at the break is simply not working. It’s something he needs to evaluate and rectify ahead of the important fixtures ahead.

If the answer is, as he jokes, just to stay out of there altogether – then he needs to do it for the good of the team!
