Chelsea star should think twice before accepting German offer says Lampard

Chelsea youngster Mason Mount has had a really positive couple of seasons.

After a true breakout effort in Holland with Vitesse two seasons ago, he returned to the UK to play for Derby under Frank Lampard. So far, it’s worked out well for both of then, with Mason playing a key role in the positive parts of the Rams’ season so far.

It’s lead to more speculation about his future though – will he stay another year growing in the Midlands, or maybe come back to Chelsea as soon as next season?

There has also been speculation recently about interest from RB Leipzig, interest which Frank Lampard was asked to respond to after Derby’s latest game.

His comments, recorded here by Sky Sports, show that he’s keen not to undermine Chelsea – but also knows that only Mason knows what’s best for him:

“That’s his call,” Lamps said of the proposed move.

“It depends how Chelsea see it and how he sees it. It depends what is the best plan for him. What we can say is that the year he’s had – he’s had a great year which has put him one big step up the ladder.”

Let’s hope he’s climbed high enough to get a look in next season.
