The Guardian’s Dom Fifield noted that Antonio Rudiger, Ethan Ampadu and Marcos Alonso did not feature, and nor did Danny Drinkwater.

No Antonio Rudiger, Ethan Amapdu or Marcos Alonso at #CFC training down at Cobham (or Danny Drinkwater, for that matter). Gary Cahill out there…

Rudiger picked up an injury against Liverpool, and his absence was to be expected. But Marcos Alonso and Ethan Ampadu would both have been expected to train, and maybe even play from the start.
It gives an interesting insight into Sarri’s plans. Gary Cahill played, and will likely fill in for Rudiger alongside Andreas Christensen. If Alonso is out, that means Emerson will have to play again.
The absence of Ampadu is tragic too, as we were hoping this might be a last chance for some minutes for him. As it stands, this looks like an entirely wasted season for the young Welshman.
