Chelsea miss perfect chance this week to get into top four for good

Chelsea had a perfect chance to take charge of the Premier League top four chase after three of their rivals all lost games this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur lost marginally to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s side completed their revenge mission over the North London club following the Champions League exit at the hands of Pochettino’s resilient side. Man United failed to capitalize on the slip up by Spurs and were beaten thoroughly by Everton at the Goodison Park. The Red Devils looked hapless as they were thumped 4-0 by the Toffees on Sunday.

On the same day, Arsenal lost at the Emirates stadium to Crystal Palace. They made their quest for a top-four place blurry with that 3-2 defeat. A win over Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Easter Monday would have seen Chelsea rise to third behind only Man City and Liverpool.

Instead, failure to get what should have been a straightforward three points leaves us agonisingly short of our destination. What a massive match for our history that could turn out to be.
