Chelsea fans will find out today whether Rudiger’s season is over – but there is one piece of good news already

One of the most significant moments in yesterday’s draw with Manchester United was the moment in which Antonio Rudiger went down clutching his leg.

The German had left the pitch against Liverpool in the first half in similar circumstances two weeks ago, and this was just a horrific flashback to that.

In that match at Anfield, losing our centre back then lead to two goals very quickly for the opposition. It seemed like that might be about to happen again, and Chelsea fans were  understandably worried.

But in the end we were able to survive, and it’s now becoming a question of when Rudi will be back.

The Evening Standard report that the Germany international will be getting a scan today,  so by tonight we will know more about his fate, and whether he is set to miss all of our remaining games.

One thing we do know already is that, as you see in the photo above, Toni was clutching his left knee when he went off.

This is a relief because it was in his right knee that he suffered an ACL injury while still at Roma.

So while it will be a big blow if he has a knee tweak that sees him out of the rest of the year, it’s nothing compared to the fear of him doing his ACL again, or even hurting the same knee again in any way.
