‘Like his son’ – Cesc Fabregas dishes out the blame for January Chelsea exit

Cesc Fabregas has fired a cheeky parting shot at former manager Maurizio Sarri, who he appears to blame for his departure from Chelsea.

Fabregas was an important and influential member of the Chelsea squad throughout two Premier League title triumphs – under different management!

It was difficult to imagine that a former Arsenal captain could be so widely adored by the Chelsea fanbase, but he achieved that feat during his time here.

Unfortunately for Cesc, and his admirers, he was forced to depart in January after struggling for game-time under Sarri’s stewardship.

He has now explained the reasons why he was forced to depart – and strongly insinuates that Jorginho’s close relationship with Sarri was a contributing factor.

Fabregas is quoted by the Metro saying:

“I was at Chelsea and I could have renewed my contract and stayed there but a new coach came with a player that for him was like his son.”

“For me it was difficult to play every single game and that’s what I want to do. I love football. I don’t want to just be happy to play for Chelsea.”

Jorginho’s pre-existing understanding with Sarri has seen him painted out as somewhat of a teacher’s pet, but that’s not his fault.

While we understand Fabregas’ frustration, Jorginho was performing consistently during the first-half of the season. He deserved the starts he was given.
