Antonio Rudiger taken off injured for second consecutive game

Antonio Rudiger was rushed back for this game, and he’s now gone off injured for the second game running.

The defender put in a solid showing before eventually being forced off clutching his left knee. That was the same scene we saw against Liverpool two weeks ago, when he was taken off in the first half.

That could well be his last game of the season, as there won’t be such a need to risk him in the next couple of weeks. He’s had an up and down season, like most of our players, but at times he was really effective, and it was his booming shot that was spilled by David de Gea for Chelsea’s equaliser in this game.

Now David Luiz has gone down hurt too, this is really awkward for a game where we just don’t want to concede.

Chelsea can be content with a draw here, and Andreas Christensen is an able substitute for him. But if we lose Luiz too we’re really in trouble.

We have to hope that they are both ready for next week, otherwise we could be going into some fairly crucial fixtures with Gary Cahill possibly back in the mix.
