Maurizio Sarri has a big Higuain problem to fix before the end of the season

Gonzalo Higuain was expected to come in at Chelsea and solve their goalscoring problems, but the more games that pass him by, the more the pressure that mounts on him.

More crucially for Chelsea, they need the goals and their quick fix man isn’t in the mood to help. Yes, he has a reputation for getting goals and plenty of them. He scored a remarkable 35 goals in 26 games in the Italian Serie A four seasons ago. But that’s it. Since then he has been searching frustratingly for numbers close to that and he has not made it.

His three goals for the Blues in all competitions since his signing in January is far from outstanding. Those goals were scored in two games  – a brace against Huddersfield and one against Fulham.

With just a few games to go in the Premier League and knowing that he is out of contention to play a major part of the Europa League campaign, due to Olivier Giroud’s exploits there, Higuain must begin to show his prowess now.

Sarri admits there’s work to be done on the Argentina international.
