The issues with Frank Lampard and Nuno as possible Chelsea managers

Chelsea have two big names lined up to replace Maurizio Sarri as coach should the Italian be sacked. The Daily Mail were the first to report the two names as possibilities this morning.

The first is someone well known to the club. Frank Lampard is a true Chelsea legend, and while he’s only just begun his managerial career, you can expect him to be heavily linked with managerial vacancies at the club from now until the day he lands the job.

The other is more of a rising star. Nuno Espirito Santo has taken Wolves up from the Championship in style, and now has them playing in a really impressive way in the Premier League.

However Lampard has little experience to his name – 8 months at Derby which started well and have tailed off a little. Nuno’s success also has to be qualified a little – he was playing with a Premier League team in the Championship, and since he’s been in the top flight he’s really a squad fit for the top half – which doesn’t mean he hasn’t still really impressed.

In fact, the problem with the Portuguese might be convincing him that he’s better off here than staying in the Midlands. His team are dangerously close to us in the table after all…

We’ll have to wait and see. But for now, let’s not forget that we do already have a manager, for now…
