‘The Premier League is amazing’ – Chelsea attacker hints at keenness to prolong Blues relationship

In wake of his retirement from international football Gonzalo Higuain hinted at his keenness to remain at Chelsea beyond the end of the season.

We were convinced that Maurizio Sarri and Higuain were a match made in heaven, with the Argentine enjoying the finest time of his career under the Italian’s stewardship at Napoli.

Higuain has been unable to produce that performance level in a Chelsea shirt thus far, but we can take encouragement in the fact that he is now fully focusing on his club career.

Having called time on his career with Argentina, which has been marred by criticism of his inefficiency in the 2014 World Cup final, Higuain revealed his focus is now on the task at hand at Chelsea.

He’s quoted by the Chelsea website saying:

“I’m fully focused on my commitment to Chelsea. The Premier League is amazing and I really want to enjoy it. It’s very competitive indeed.”

These certainly do not sound like the comments of a man who is expecting to leave us this summer, with his six-month loan having just two left ro run.

Higuain’s future at Stamford Bridge will likely be dependent on whether our transfer ban will be upheld – and also whether Sarri is able to keep hold of his position.
