Chelsea wonderkid accepted offer from a title winning European side

Andreas Christensen was keen on a move to Juventus in January, and had accepted the club’s proposal, only to be convinced by Chelsea that he was better served by staying.

That’s according to rumours from Italy, as referenced on SportWitness here, that say that Christensen’s time out of the Chelsea first team picture was enough to convince him a move would be a smart move.

It hardly seems likely he’d get any closer to the Juve team. They have some ageing defenders – but so do we. They do seem to introduce youth a little better than us, but there are still countless young players who have had to leave Turin to get their careers going.

Either way, it’s a moot point as Christensen was persuaded to stay – or rather, informed that he would be staying. He’s started the last two games for us, which is a first for the season, and the transfer ban that seems to be looming over the club makes his prospects look even better. Gary Cahill is clearly out of the picture, and while David Luiz will surely sign a new deal if we can’t register new players, that still leaves the young Dane as first replacement at the position.

Every time Antonio Rudiger or David Luiz is injured, suspended or rested, Andreas will play. Let’s hope that’s enough for him.
