How Chelsea responded to Real Madrid’s first official offer for Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard is Chelsea’s most important player by far, and the Blues are ready to go all the way to keep him in their squad despite Real Madrid making a first official bid for the Belgium international.

Chelsea have reportedly rejected the offer from Real according to Duncan Castles of the Daily Record, but will be ready to accept a bid of £85 million. Hazard’s contract expires in the summer of 2020 and with the Premier League giants set to lose him for free next year, should he refuse to sign a new deal, Chelsea may be forced to do business with interested clubs this summer.

Castles says in his report that Chelsea believe “a sale may be the only viable economic option open” after this season’s end.

Real are the only side currently showing strong interest in the Belgium captain. The 28-year old is also said to be willing to join Los Blancos having mentioned earlier his dream to play for the club as well as the wish to play under Zinedine Zidane who returned to the club only last week to replace Santiago Solari.
