Chelsea outcast increases his market value ahead of summer transfer window with latest goal glut

Olivier Giroud has been a rather stifled player in Chelsea’s first team squad, featuring even less after Gonzalo Higuain arrived at the club in the January transfer window, but his latest feats in the Europa League may help convince clubs to swoop for him next summer.

Apart from his nine Europa League goals this campaign, Giroud has been somewhat a forgotten figure at Chelsea. It must be said that he has only one goal in 20 appearances in the Premier League this season and if FIFA’s punishment of banning Chelsea from making signings in the upcoming transfer window had not been implemented, Higuain would have been a sure mover at the end of the season.

But his fortunes may have taken a positive turn after his goals in Europe. He comes in handy for any coach in European football and gave a big demonstration of that on Thursday against Dynamo Kiev. He scored a perfect hat trick – with the left and right foot, and also a header.

When clubs line up for him at the of the season, you can expect the number to be bigger than it was a few days ago.
