Cardiff v Chelsea team news: Hazard on the bench – but still no room for Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea’s starting eleven to face Cardiff City today has been announced, with Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi being named among the substitutes.

Chelsea desperately need to win today. Anything other than three points will see us fall even further from the rest of our top four competitors.

In truth, if any more points are dropped in the Premier League, we may be forced to switch our focus to winning the Europa League.

That’s merely a contingency plan, however, and we still have what it takes to finish in one of the top four places and get back into the Champions League.

Maurizio Sarri has named the team that he believes are capable of getting us one step closer to achieving that ambition – but CHO’s been left out again.

Despite his superb performances for England, Sarri’s mind hasn’t been changed. Eden Hazard has been benched, but there’s still no room for Hudson-Odoi.

In fact, N’Golo Kante is also on the substitutes bench, in an experimental lineup from Sarri. What on Earth has led to this?

Here’s how we lineup in full.
