Callum Hudson-Odoi’s rise to relevance is about to get even more extraordinary

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is expected to start for England against Montenegro this evening, according to the Telegraph.

Hudson-Odoi’s rise to relevance has been utterly extraordinary. Not only is he pushing for a Chelsea starting spot at just 18, but he was also handed his senior international debut on Friday night.

Gareth Southgate appears to have a great deal of faith in CHO, which comes as no surprise. He will have been aware of the progress he was making for the lower age groups while manager of the U21s.

Not to mention that Steve Holland, formerly Chelsea’s assistant manager, is Southgate’s number two. You have to think that he had a role to play in Hudson-Odoi being called up to the squad.

The faith of both men has been further demonstrated now, with the Telegraph reporting that Hudson-Odoi will START for England tonight, as they take on Montenegro at the Podgorica City Stadium.

What an opportunity this will be for CHO to show everyone what he’s capable of. We certainly hope that Maurizio Sarri will be tuning into the game to keep an eye on him.
