Surprise manager emerges as strong contender to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea

Chelsea are reportedly considering hiring former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to replace Maurizio Sarri as head coach of the club.

The Italian manager has suffered embarrassing results in the last few weeks having first lost 4-0 to Bournemouth before sitting through the heaviest defeat ever in the history of Chelsea, a 6-0 loss to Manchester City. The defeat at the Etihad Stadium left the Blues now in the sixth position in the Premier League standings, one point off Manchester United in fourth position.

Now according to the Sun the Blues top hierarchy are looking to hire Zidane to replace Sarri next summer. Sarri’s job is under immense pressure following his side’s 6-0 thrashing at Man City last weekend and now reports indicate Zidane could be heading to the Bridge.

The ex-France international has been out of work since his successful spell on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu. He won three consecutive Champions League titles in the three seasons he spent with Los Blancos and would be a high-profile capture should the Blues secure him.
