“We were not good in the final metres” – Chelsea’s problem persists despite Higuain signing

Chelsea are still struggling in front of goal, despite bringing in big name striker Gonzalo Higuain in January.

That’s according to captain Cesar Azpilicueta, no less. The Basque defender was speaking after the game yesterday, and sounded as defeated he’s ever sounded as a Blue.

The Daily Mirror have his quotes from after the game, where he discusses his team’s issues and where they stem from.

“It’s been a tough night… we were not very good in the final metres so we paid for that. And at the end we couldn’t score.”

It’s a body blow to this team given they seemed like they were one competent striker away from being a genuinely good team. Now he have Higuain in the team, we seem unable to create chances for him. Three of his starts have seen us utterly battered, by City, United and Bournemouth, and only in the game against Huddersfield were we able to create any chances for him at all.

Let’s hope that easier fixtures bring some more chances for our forwards, otherwise this summer’s clearout could be bigger than anyone anticipated.
