Maurizio Sarri’s career at Chelsea could be defined in the coming week

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has endured a torrid time at Chelsea this season. Since his arrival last summer, the Italian manager has not gotten his stars to play the brand of football he built a reputation for playing for in the Italian Serie A and recent results mean his job is under threat.

The former Napoli manager is looking forward to a swift positive reaction from his side and as the Blues prepare to face Malmo FF in the Europa League on Thursday night, there’s another competition only days away to worry about.

Manchester United lie in wait in the fifth round and should Sarri fail to navigte past them at Stamford Bridge, he could be answering even more questions put to him by his employers.

Exiting the FA Cup and failing to convince with performances and results in the Europa League could signal an end to very short stay at the Bridge.

Either way, wins in both of those competitions may buy him time, but they won’t necessarily save his job.
