But the Daily Mail today have quotes from the Croat’s agent that really shut down those rumours for now.
His representative was speaking about the idea that his client might leave Spain this summer, a concept he referred to as “impossible”.
We already wrote that we suspect the links were only there as Rakitic wants a new contract, and that looks more and more like it’s the case.
A lot will come down to Mateo Kovacic’s future at the club. If we decide to make his move permanent, the need for another technical player in that area of the pitch isn’t so great. If we don’t prise him away from Madrid, we might see these Rakitic rumours return.
